HIGH DOSE VITAMIN C

Also known as Ascorbic Acid, Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that plays many essential roles throughout the body, helping to maintain systems such as muscles, bones, immune support, and the circulatory system.  At InVita Health and Wellness, we understand the importance of Vitamin C and are excited to offer high-dose vitamin C infusions in addition to our other fully-customized vitamin infusion options.

We all know that Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant with abundant benefits including immune enhancement, protection from viruses and bacteria, cardiovascular protection, eye diseases, and even skin wrinkles. What many people may not know, however, is that high-dose IV Vitamin C, can kill cancer cells.

There has been renewed interest in high-dose Vitamin C infusions.  Put very simply, Vitamin C works with metals in the body to create hydrogen peroxide.  Normal, healthy cells have the ability to reduce the effects of hydrogen peroxide.  Unhealthy cells, like cancer cells do not.  The high concentration of the resulting hydrogen peroxide damages the DNA of the cancer cells, cuts off their energy supply and kills them. Vitamin C, even in very high doses, is toxic only to the cancer cells without harming the healthy cells in your body.  It can stimulate collagen formation to help the body wall off the tumor. It inhibits hyaluronidase, an enzyme that tumors use to metastasize and invade other organs throughout the body. It induces apoptosis to help program cancer cells to die early.

In addition to its benefit as a non-toxic chemotherapeutic agent, intravenous vitamin C also boosts immunity.  Regular supplementation with Vitamin C decreases the duration and severity of viral and bacterial infections by a variety of mechanisms.  It increases the production of white blood cells and antibodies IgA, IgG, and IgM.  It increases the production of interferon, approaching release by animal cells usually in response to the entry of a virus, which has the property of inhibiting virus replication. It also modulates prostaglandin synthesis and decreases inflammation.

High-dose IV vitamin C is contraindicated in patients with an iron overload disease and G6PD deficiency. It is also contraindicated in patients with renal insufficiency or renal failure, or those undergoing dialysis.  Call InVita Health and Wellness at 314-394-0950 for your next vitamin infusion.
